A Note from Dr. Joann

What is health? The official definition from the World Health Organization (WHO) is “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Notice what that says? Health is not just the absence of disease! It means the presence of well-being. What is well-being? It’s a state we achieve when our physical body, our mind and spirit, and our connections to the people around us are all at their optimum levels. All of us can achieve these levels… and if we want to live a long, healthy life, we should!

That’s why we’re called the Optimal Wellbeing Clinic. We work together with your current practitioner to optimize every aspect of your well-being. We combine the intuitive wisdom of the East with the scientific understanding of Western medicine to help you achieve your health goals.

I often ask myself why people spend so much time, money and energy on their cars. It’s because they’re being proactive with the maintenance of their vehicle, so it doesn’t break down when they’re 3,000 kms from home. Why not expend the same effort on your body, so it doesn’t break down in the middle of hide-and-seek with the grandchildren, or when you’re walking through the grocery store?

There’s only one way your health can become optimized, and that is if you  take charge. You’re in the driver’s seat. But you don’t have to make the journey alone. We’ll act as your co-pilot! If your well-being is in need of some optimization, get in touch with us today.

Information for New Patients

Drs. Osbourne and Callaghan pursue a four-step methodology in diagnosing each new patient. Click on a tab below to learn more about each step in the diagnostic process.

Initial Investigation

Your first visit takes us on an in-depth investigation into all aspects of your health and lifestyle, as well as medical and family history.

This visit may also include a physical exam, and a thorough assessment of stress, sleep quality, digestion, hormone balance, immunity, environmental exposures, brain health and more.

By the end of this visit, we will have a solid understanding of you and the most important aspects of your well-being, in order to begin the next step on your path to higher health.

Advanced Blood Work, Labs and Further Investigation

The information gathered during your initial visit will help us determine if any specific blood work and/or advanced labs are needed. This will help us get a clearer picture of your health, with actual data you can see, in order to customize a plan for you.

Our staff will make all necessary appointments on your behalf.

Results Analysis and Interpretation

Once your results are in, they are added to your health portfolio. We review your results, collaborate as a team and put together your customized health action plan.

This will vary from person to person and will at minimum include the following:

  • Personalized nutrition plan—based on what we discovered reviewing your blood work, diet diary, health tracking assessment, and lab results.
  • Clinically relevant supportive plan
  • Customized IV nutrients and recommended series specifically tailored to your health concerns, goals and test results.

The Plan and Monitoring

We get together and review how to put your plan into motion so you have success. It’s not enough to understand your plan, you need support to help you realize your goals as fast as possible.

That is why we continue to connect and monitor your progress. This is not only for support, but to fine tune your plan as needed to ensure you reach your goals.  This is the most overlooked area for success and why we believe so strongly in taking the time to follow up with you.
